Splendor Solis is a group show of seven artists exploring mythologies through a shared interest in symbolism and iconography.
Jean-Marie Appriou, Kasper Bosmans, Anna Glantz, Allison Katz, Caitlin Keogh, Rosa Loy and Lin May Saeed are all part of the group show Splendor Solis. The show lends its title, Splendour of the Sun, from a colorful alchemical text dating back to the 16th century.
I came across both Jean-Marie Appriou and Kasper Bosmans on a trip to Brussels about two years ago. I had not heard of either of the artists back then and fell in love with their work at first sight. Appriou was showing his metal sculptures at Clearing’s former townhouse space back then and Bosmans had a show at Gladstone Gallery. When I heard that they both would have works in the group exhibition Splendor Solis at The approach, one of my favourite galleries in London, I was obviously more than thrilled.
And the very well curated show lived up to my expectations. Highly recommended!
